Itinerary: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap - Luang Prapang - Pakse - Khong Island (8 days 7 nights)

Day 1 :  Phnom Penh Arrival

 

Depart Tokyo for Phnom Penh(PNH) on ANA 915. Met in the airport then transfer to hotel for check in. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

 

Day 2 : Phnom Penh City tour (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then transfer to visit Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the Independence Monument. Visit city orphanage. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

 

Day 3 : Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then depart PNH for Siem Reap on Mekong Express Bus. Met in the bus stop in Siemreap then transfer to hotel for check in (about lunch time). Overnight in Siemreap.

 

Day 4 : Angkor Temple (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then transfer to Angkor Complex to visit Angkor, South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King, Ta Promh, Angkor Wat. Overnight in Siemreap.

 

Day 5 : Angkor Temple (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then transfer to visit Angkor, Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre and Victory Gate, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda, Ta Prohm, Ta Keo and Banteay Kdei.  Overnight in Siem Reap.

 

Day 6 : Siemreap – Luang Prabang (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then transfer to airport for the flight to Luang Prabang, Laos on QV523(Lao Air). Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After a short rest, we explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the local and hill-tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang

 

Day 7 : Luang Prabang – City Tour – Pak Ou caves boat cruise  (Breakfast)
 
Visit Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai, Visit Wat Sene and Wat Xiengthong, Pak Ou Caves and small village of Ban Xanghai where local rice wine is distilled.  Overnight in Luang Prabang.
 
Day 8 : Adventure and Elephant Camp (Brreakfast + Lunch )

 

Breakfast then transfer to Elephant Camp then doing Elephant and soft hiking tour to Khamu village (Walking time total 3 hrs. (easy), in dry season Tad Sae waterfall is dry). After arriving at the Lao Spirit Resort you will experience the protected Elephants at the “Elephant Park Project” along the Nam Khan riverbanks. You can enjoy the 1 hr. Elephant ride on the back of a protected Asian Elephant.  A short and easy hiking tour will lead you out into the Fair Trek project area where villages profit directly from your visit. A small Khamu community lives below a high rising mountain range. Depending on the time available your Lao style Lunch will be served at Ban Houay Fai and return to Tad Sae waterfall, boat ride back to Lao Spirit Resort. Your car will bring you back to Luang Prabang. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Overnight in Luang Prabang
 
Day 9 : Luang Prabang – Pakse (Breakfast)
 
Today we visit The National Museum (close Tuesday) at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating back from the days of the early kings right through to the last sovereign. The National Museum and the Central Market are not to be missed.

After visit these sights in the morning, depart Luang Prabang for Pakse on QV513 flight. Transfer to hotel in Pakse for check in. Overnight in Pakse.

 

Day 10 : Vat Phou Cruise (Brreakfast + Lunch + Dinner)
 
Breakfast, transferred to the Vat Phou Cruise leaving Pakse for Champassak at 10:00am. The Vat Phou is a 34-meter long, air-conditioned floating hotel consisting of twelve twin rooms, all of which are ensuite. There is a large shaded front upper deck, perfect for relaxing and gazing at the passing long scenic stretches and a restaurant onboard. Once on board and we head south on our long tail riverboat, zigzagging through mild rapids and sand banks, arriving at Champassak in time for a riverside lunch, followed by a guided tour of the mysterious pre-Angkorian 10th century temple of Vat Phou, the boat’s namesake. Wat Phou is a wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia. As dusk falls, we board the Vat Phou for a relaxing cruise down-river, enjoying the tropical sunset on the deck. Dinner is served on board, while the boat docks for the night alongside a remote Laotian village. Overnight on board Vat Phou Cruise.
 
Day 11 : Huei Thamo - Oum Moung Temple - Khong Island  (Brreakfast + Lunch + Dinner)

 

After a leisurely breakfast on board, we set sail for the village of Huei Thamo, only a few minutes walk away from the spectacular hidden ancient forest temple of Oum Moung. We rejoin the boat for a leisurely cruise southbound and enjoy lunch on the deck, continuing south to the wild paradise of the “4,000 islands” region. In the afternoon we will arrive at Ban Dua Tae, a traditional Laotian Village where the traditional way of life has not changed in centuries.  We observe traditional village life and learn about the daily activities within the village. This evening we enjoy a quiet dinner on board, under the stars, serenaded by the songs by the songs of the buffalo toads. Overnight on board Vat Phou Cruise.

 

Day 12 : Veuthong - the “Niagara of the East - Xieng Di – Pakse (Breakfast + Lunch)

 

Today we will enjoy breakfast on the upper deck, while cruising to the small village of Ban Veuthong, where we will board a small longtail boat to Khong Island, the largest island in the 4,000 islands region, also the birthplace of the President of the Peoples Siem Reapublic of Laos. After visiting the island, we take a long tail boat back to the mainland for lunch amid the bygone splendid of another age; colorful French colonial houses and an old customs post, alongside a stone quay. We will transfer by minivan to the encaptivating, scenic splendor of the Khong Pha Peng waterfall, “the Niagara of the East“, close to the Cambodian border. We return to Pakse for “civilization”, which is a two-hour journey by road, arriving in the late afternoon. Once we arrive you will be transferred to yout hotel. Overnight in Pakse .

 

Day 13 : Departure (Breakfast)

 

Breakfast in hotel then transfer to the airport for the flight back home. End of the tour.
